Key points

  1. India won women's 10m air pistol team silver with 1,738, behind China's 1,745.
  2. In the individual final Manu Bhaker was fifth and Suruchi Inder Singh sixth.
  3. India have no individual medal or Olympic quota yet at the championships.

India won the women’s 10m air pistol team silver at the ISSF World Championships in Doha on November 5, 2026, but Manu Bhaker and Suruchi Inder Singh could not turn their places in the individual final into a medal or an Olympic quota.

Manu, Suruchi and Sainyam combined for 1,738 points, seven behind China, who took gold with 1,745. The team medal does not carry a quota place for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Manu, the double bronze medallist from the Paris Olympics, recovered from a slow start of 95 and 95 to shoot 98, 100, 96 and 99, for 583 and third place in qualifying. Suruchi scored 580 to take the eighth and last place in the final. Sainyam’s 575 left her 22nd, but her score made the team medal possible.

A final that slipped away

The final belonged to China. Jiang Ranxin, who had topped qualifying with 585, won gold with 242.4, just ahead of her teammate Yao Qianxun on 242.1. Hungary’s Veronika Major took bronze with 222.1.

Manu’s shots swung between 8.8 and 10.7, and she went out after the 18th shot in fifth place with 179.9. Suruchi, an Asian Games mixed team gold medallist and a multiple World Cup winner, was undone by a run of 8s and 9s and left after the 16th shot in sixth with 158.3.

The quota hunt goes on

All three individual medallists won quota places for Los Angeles. The Doha championships are the first major event to hand out individual quotas for the 2028 Games, and India are still without an individual medal or a quota place in an Olympic discipline there.
