Last votes on Friday
Friday brought the last round of voting. Five mandals cut off by Cyclone Murasu, Gopalapuram in East Godavari and Velerupadu, Buttayagudem, Jeelugumilli and Polavaram in the Eluru area, voted for 5 ZPTC and 60 MPTC seats, and fresh polling was held at seven booths in five districts where Thursday’s vote was cancelled. Voting there was due to end at 5 pm, and the commission has yet to give a turnout figure for it.
The commission’s report covers turnout only and gives no candidate-wise or party-wise picture. That will come when votes from across the state are counted on November 7, for 7,767 MPTC and 582 ZPTC seats. Elections for mandal parishad presidents and zilla parishad chairpersons follow on November 11 and 12.
