FC Goa won for the first time this Indian Super League season, coming from 1-1 to beat Inter Kashi 2-1 at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on Sunday. Francisco Feuillassier, known as Franchu, and Christian Borrego, known as Chiki, scored for Goa, with Sumeet Passi’s goal for Inter Kashi in between.

It was Inter Kashi’s third defeat of the campaign. They had the early chances: Jeetu headed a delivery wide and Ayush Chikkara’s shot from about 25 yards flew over the bar.

Goa went ahead in the 32nd minute. Isak Ralte drove forward, turned away from his marker and laid the ball off for Franchu to side-foot into the bottom corner. Ralte nearly added a second about five minutes later with a floated effort that drifted just past the far post.

Inter Kashi were level five minutes after the restart. Rosenberg Gabriel crossed from the right and Passi beat Goa goalkeeper Bob Jackson in the 51st minute. Sandesh Jhingan then headed a set piece wide for Goa.

The winner came in the 66th minute. Franchu broke through the Inter Kashi lines and found substitute Muhammed Nemil, who squared the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper Albino Gomes. Chiki finished from close range despite Pratik Chaudhary’s attempt to block.

Inter Kashi pushed for a second equaliser in the closing stages, but Goa held firm. Their night ended on a sour note on the touchline, where head coach Gouramangi Singh was sent off for kicking the ball away to delay a restart.
