Hamza Zahoor's hundred takes Pakistan U19 past India by three wickets despite Rajput's 107
Chasing 209 at Al Amerat, Pakistan were 61 for 5 before Zahoor's unbeaten 100 and a 107-run stand won the Asia Cup Group A match with 11 balls to spare and put them top of the table.

Key points
- Pakistan U19 reached 209 for 7 in 48.1 overs and won by three wickets, India's first defeat of the tournament.
- Hamza Zahoor was not out on 100 off 108 balls, with 10 fours and three sixes, and hit the winning boundary.
- Pakistan recovered from 61 for 5 through a 107-run sixth-wicket stand between Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar.
Hamza Zahoor’s unbeaten 100 off 108 balls carried Pakistan’s under-19 side to a three-wicket win over India in the Asia Cup Group A match at Al Amerat, Oman, on Sunday. Pakistan reached 209 for 7 in 48.1 overs after being 61 for 5, and beat India on the day Arjun Rajput made 107 for the losing side.
The result is India’s first defeat of the tournament and puts Pakistan, who beat the UAE by nine wickets earlier, at the top of Group A. India had opened with a 10-wicket win over Nepal.
The chase turns
India’s bowlers made the early breakthroughs. Pakistan, chasing 209, slipped to 61 for 5 and the match seemed to be tilting towards India, who had been bowled out for 208 in 46.3 overs after losing three wickets for 22 in the first innings.
Zahoor, batting at number seven, held one end together. He added 107 runs off 140 balls for the sixth wicket with Hasnain Abbas Dar, who made 38 off 67 balls before Manal Chauhan took his wicket. That stand took the equation from desperate to manageable, and Zahoor kept the scoring going with 10 fours and three sixes in his innings.
Dar’s dismissal brought in the seventh Pakistani wicket, but Zahoor stayed to the end. He drove Kavya Patel through extra cover for the winning boundary, taking Pakistan to 209 with three wickets in hand. His hundred came off 108 balls, a slower tempo than Rajput’s 85-ball innings, and it was enough on a target of 209.
What Rajput did for India
India chose to bat and were in trouble inside 12 overs, with captain Lakshya Raichandani out for a duck to Ali Raza in the first over, VK Vineeth out for 8 and Yashbardhan Chauhan for 1. Rajput came in at 22 for 3 and made 107 off 85 balls with 11 fours and five sixes, adding 44 for the fourth wicket with Anvay Dravid and 64 with Manal Chauhan.
He was out in the 36th over, caught by Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf off Rizwanullah, with India on 170 for 7. India were 195 for 9 after Yashveer Goud and Mohit Ulva fell cheaply, and the innings ended on 208. No other India batter passed Kavya Patel’s 23 and Aaryavir Sehwag’s 22.
Ali Raza took 3 for 37, Rizwanullah 3 for 24 and Niqab Shafiq 3 for 42, and Mohammad Sayyam took one wicket for 27 runs.
The two innings
What it means for the group
The group has four teams, India, Pakistan, Nepal and the UAE, and only the top two reach the semi-finals, which are set for November 12. Pakistan have won both their matches and lead the table. India, with one win and one defeat, finish their group games against the UAE on November 10.
The two sides have met in big matches before. In the 2025 Asia Cup final Pakistan, the defending champions, beat India by 191 runs, with Sameer Minhas scoring 172. India won the group game between them in that tournament by 90 runs, and beat Pakistan by 58 runs at the Under-19 World Cup in February 2026. Our earlier preview has the full record: India had won 21 of 32 youth ODIs and 9 of 13 Asia Cup meetings before Sunday.
For India the defeat came on the day their young batter made the highest score of the match. The side lost three wickets for 22 runs at the start of their innings, and once Rajput fell at 170 for 7 the last three wickets added only 38.
What happens next
India play the UAE on November 10 in their last group match. The final group standings will decide which two teams go through to the semi-finals on November 12.
