PSG hit Villarreal for six with record start as Bayern win in Madrid and Cunha rescues United
The holders scored four goals in barely 16 minutes, the fastest in Champions League history. Bayern beat Atletico 2-0, Barcelona ended Aston Villa's perfect run and ten-man Manchester United came from 2-0 down to beat Roma.

Key points
- PSG beat Villarreal 6-0 and stay top with four wins from four.
- Bayern won 2-0 at Atletico Madrid through Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer.
- Matheus Cunha scored twice late as Manchester United beat Roma 3-2.
Paris Saint-Germain produced the most ruthless half-hour of the Champions League season at Villarreal on Tuesday night. The holders were four goals up after 16 minutes and two seconds, the fastest four goals in the competition’s history, and went on to win 6-0 at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
The old mark belonged to Real Madrid, who had four by the 20th minute against Dinamo Zagreb in November 2011. PSG needed barely three-quarters of that time. Joao Neves opened the scoring in the ninth minute, Desire Doue added a second three minutes later and Senny Mayulu a third a minute after that, before Fabian Ruiz made it four.
Ruiz scored again five minutes after half-time and David Boly, on for his Champions League debut, completed the rout in the 78th minute. Luis Enrique’s side are now top with four wins from four, while Villarreal, beaten 4-3 at Liverpool last time, have just one win.
Bayern quiet the Metropolitano
The big game in Madrid went Bayern’s way. After a goalless first half, Lennart Karl struck in the 54th minute, winning the ball from Robin Le Normand in the box and lifting it over Jan Oblak. Konrad Laimer doubled the lead in the 74th minute from a Harry Kane pass in front of 70,813 fans.
Oblak tipped a deflected Dayot Upamecano shot onto the bar and Upamecano had a goal ruled out. Bayern, unbeaten in Europe this season, move up to eighth on eight points. Atletico, with one win from four, sit 22nd.
Cunha turns Old Trafford around
Manchester United were booed off at half-time, 2-0 down to goals from Matias Soule and a Donyell Malen penalty. Bruno Fernandes had his first spot-kick saved, but it was ordered to be retaken for encroachment and he scored at the second attempt in the 58th minute.
Matheus Cunha then scored twice in the last 10 minutes, the winner from a Shea Lacey pass, to give United their first win since September. Cunha was booked for celebrating with the fans and sent off for a second yellow card for a late foul in stoppage time.
Barcelona end Villa’s perfect run
At Camp Nou, Lamine Yamal struck early and Raphinha scored twice after the break as Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0, ending Villa’s perfect start and lifting Hansi Flick’s side after two defeats in three games.
Elsewhere, Inter won 3-0 at Feyenoord through Yann Bisseck, Francesco Pio Esposito and Piotr Zielinski. Aleksey Batrakov scored twice in the first 15 minutes as Galatasaray beat Stuttgart 2-0, LASK thrashed Slovan Bratislava 4-0, Sporting won 1-0 at Shakhtar Donetsk a day after sacking coach Rui Borges, and Bodo/Glimt and Lille drew 0-0.
The other nine games of matchday four are played on Wednesday night, with Liverpool at Fenerbahce, Manchester City at RB Leipzig and Arsenal at Slavia Prague.
