Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday linked Chhattisgarh’s progress to the campaign against Maoist insurgents, saying in his formation day message that the state was advancing faster while uprooting Naxalism.

“Today, it is heartening to see that while eradicating the roots of Naxalism, our state is advancing on the path of development with even greater speed,” Modi wrote on X as the state marked 26 years since it was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2000.

He described Chhattisgarh as “renowned for its tribal culture, natural wealth, and unique folk traditions”, with archaeological heritage as its special identity. “I am confident that with the participation of my talented and hardworking family members, this state will continue to make significant contributions to the prosperity of the nation,” he wrote.

Sai looks back, and ahead

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai used his own posts to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, “whose visionary leadership and firm resolve turned the dream of a Chhattisgarh state into reality.”

He called the state “the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram, the sacred land of Mother Kaushalya”, and said it had carved out a distinct identity on India’s development map during its 26-year journey, “transforming struggles into possibilities and possibilities into achievements.”

Sai asked people to come together “under the leadership of the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji” to strengthen the resolve for the Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047, the state’s long-term development plan.

The state’s three-day Rajyotsav opens in Nava Raipur later today.
