Tata Motors truck and bus sales rise 27% in October as exports more than triple
The commercial vehicle maker sold 47,652 units in October, with every domestic segment growing and overseas shipments up 225%.

Key points
- Tata Motors sold 47,652 commercial vehicles in October, up 27% from 37,530.
- Exports jumped 225% to 7,868 units.
- Domestic sales rose 13%, with heavy truck sales up 12% at 12,030.
Tata Motors sold 47,652 trucks, buses and vans in October, 27% more than the 37,530 it sold a year earlier, as demand picked up at home and shipments abroad soared, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Sunday.
The standout number was exports. Tata sent 7,868 commercial vehicles overseas, more than three times the 2,422 of October 2025, a rise of 225%.
At home, sales grew 13% to 39,784 units, and every segment was up. Heavy trucks rose 12% to 12,030 units, intermediate and light trucks 17% to 7,213, and passenger carriers such as buses and vans 20% to 3,826. Small cargo vehicles and pickups, the largest group, rose 11% to 16,715.
Medium, heavy and intermediate commercial vehicles together sold 19,263 units in India, up 16%, and 20,712 including exports. Truck sales are closely watched as a signal of freight demand, road building and the wider economy, and the October numbers point to a busy festive month for goods movement. Tata’s passenger vehicle arm, now a separate listed company, reported its own October figures earlier on Sunday.
