  2. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav opens a three-day Rajyotsav at Lal Parade Ground at about 11 am.
  3. 165 farmers who won a state quiz will get tractors, motorcycles and electric scooters.

Madhya Pradesh marks its 71st foundation day today, and Bhopal is the centre of the celebrations. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav opens a three-day Rajyotsav at Lal Parade Ground at about 11 am, touring an agriculture exhibition, a development gallery, a women’s entrepreneurship pavilion and an indigenous food fair.

The state was formed on 1 November 1956. This year’s theme is “State Moving Forward on the Path from Heritage to Development”. Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, said the festival “is being organised to showcase Madhya Pradesh’s seven-decade development journey”.

Prizes for farmers and students

The festival carries a large prize list. About 40,000 farmers took the online Kisan Kalyan Swabhiman Parv quiz, run by the Veer Bharat Nyas and the Agriculture Department, and 15,298 scored full marks. A lottery picked 165 winners from 55 districts: first-place winners get 55 tractors, second-place winners 55 Bullet motorcycles and third-place winners 55 electric scooters. The Chief Minister will hand prizes to the Bhopal winners, and district in-charge ministers will do so elsewhere.

102 students will get ₹1 lakh each under the Bhagwan Shri Krishna meritorious student scholarship, run by the Shri Krishna Pathey Trust under the Culture Department.

Evening show

The main cultural evening and inaugural ceremony begin at 6:30 pm, with the Chief Minister as chief guest. Singer Monali Thakur headlines the show, alongside folk and tribal troupes, instrumental music and fireworks. Entry is free.

Ahead of the day, more than 400 folk and tribal artists took part in heritage processions through Bhopal on 30 and 31 October. The Rajyotsav runs until 3 November. Madhya Pradesh shares its foundation day with Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Haryana.
