Wembanyama scores 43 with six blocks as Spurs beat Edwards-less Timberwolves
The French centre's 43 points were the second-highest total of his career as San Antonio won 121-111 at home for a fourth straight victory.

Key points
- The Spurs beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-111 in San Antonio.
- Victor Wembanyama scored 43 points with six blocks in 33 minutes.
- Minnesota played without Anthony Edwards, out after knee surgery.
Victor Wembanyama scored 43 points and blocked six shots as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-111 on Saturday night, Sunday morning in India.
The French centre made 17 of his 34 shots, a career-high number of attempts, and added seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in 33 minutes. Only once has he scored more in his four NBA seasons: 50 points against the Washington Wizards in November 2024. He had set his season high of 36 against the Utah Jazz only on Wednesday, adding 14 rebounds in a 117-111 overtime win in Salt Lake City.
Minnesota arrived without Anthony Edwards, who had knee surgery on Thursday and could be out for up to two months. Edwards had scored a franchise-record 133 points in the Timberwolves’ first four games. Coach Chris Finch had said after the surgery: “We’ll have to kind of fill that scoring void by committee.” The Timberwolves had beaten the Los Angeles Clippers 127-101 at home on Friday and were playing the second night of a back-to-back.
The Spurs lost their first two games of the season but have now won four in a row, moving to 4-2, while Minnesota drop to 4-3. Wembanyama ends October averaging 28 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 4.2 blocks a game.
San Antonio stay at home to face Utah on Monday and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
