Key points

  1. India registered 2,23,886 electric two-wheelers in October, up 48.4% on a year ago.
  2. TVS Motor led with 60,433 registrations, almost double its October 2025 tally.
  3. Ola Electric fell to fifth as its registrations dropped 26.4% year on year.

India’s electric two-wheeler market had a strong festive month in October, with 2,23,886 battery scooters and motorcycles registered, according to data from the government’s Vahan portal released on Sunday.

That is 48.4% more than the 1,50,894 registered in October 2025 and 7.3% more than September’s 2,08,707. The figures count vehicles registered with transport offices, not the dispatches to dealers that companies report on the first of each month, so they are a closer measure of what buyers actually took home during the festive season.

TVS Motor stayed on top with 60,433 registrations, up 94.5% on a year earlier, and lifted its share of the market to 27%. Its lead over second-placed Bajaj Auto nearly doubled to 11,365 units, from 5,662 in September. Bajaj registered 49,068 electric two-wheelers, little changed from the month before, and its share slipped to 21.9%.

Ather Energy was third with 31,795. Behind it, Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand had the strongest month-on-month gain among the leaders, up 22.5% to 29,936, which cut its gap to Ather from 6,504 to just 1,859 units.

The slide continued at Ola Electric, once the market leader. It registered 12,096 vehicles, down 26.4% from a year ago and 10% from September, and its share fell to 5.4%. Greaves Electric Mobility, in sixth place with 10,838, is now only 1,258 units behind it.

The market is concentrated at the top. The five biggest makers accounted for almost 82% of registrations, and the top ten for nearly 94%, leaving 13,544 vehicles for every other brand combined.
