Honda Cars India's October sales fall 23% as exports collapse, home sales rise 19%
Festive buying and the Elevate SUV lifted Honda's sales in India, but shipments abroad shrank to a few hundred cars and dragged the month's total down.

Key points
- Honda Cars India sold 8,082 cars in October, 23% fewer than a year ago.
- Exports fell 88% to just 473 units, from 4,124 in October 2025.
- Sales in India rose 19% to 7,609 units, helped by the Elevate SUV.
Honda Cars India sold 8,082 cars in October, 23% fewer than a year earlier, as a collapse in exports wiped out a healthy rise in sales at home, the company’s figures released on Sunday evening showed.
Shipments abroad fell 88% to 473 units, against 4,124 in October 2025. Exports had already been the weak spot in September, when the company sent 2,490 cars overseas out of 6,955 sold in all.
The domestic picture was very different. Honda sold 7,609 cars in India, up 19% from 6,394 a year ago and well above September’s 4,465, as festive buying ran on after Dussehra. The Elevate, the mid-size SUV that has become the company’s main seller here, carried most of that demand.
The rise at home still leaves Honda a small player in a market where rivals posted record months on Sunday. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Kia all reported their best October numbers, while Toyota’s domestic sales fell.
Honda Cars India is not listed on Indian stock exchanges, so the numbers will not move any share price when markets open on Monday. The test for the company is whether home demand holds once the festive season ends, and whether it can steady its export volumes, which have now shrunk to a few hundred cars a month.
